Baby Steps in His Plans

It's August!

Phew! We're 8 months into 2008(or 4 months to go before we hit 2009)! And somehow, it seems only like yesterday when I have moved into my current work portfolio in SPC supply chain in October 2007.

Like the saying goes, "Time really flies..." I still can't believe how fast the months have gone by.

Ever wondered how amazing it is in that the way we look at things can tweak the way we perceive how fast time has gone by? Every single person, at different points of their life, reacts to time differently. An hour can seem like eternity when your closed ones are in the operation theatre. Ironically, the same exact amount of time just doesn't seem to be enough if you are rushing through a project last minute.

Looking at the limited time we have on earth, sometimes, on can be led to think that we need to cherish each and every moment. While it is right and I do agree that we need to treasure every second we have, I'd like to just expand this particular paradigm. I'd like to invite whoever that is reading this post to pause a moment and try to remember a very important principle God mentioned in His concept about time.

Recall this verse,"...He has also set eternity in the hearts of men..." - Ecclesiastes 3:11?

Wow! This seems to remind us that though our time on earth is limited, our life with Him, in His Kingdom is not! Every moment that passes through are like baby steps in His entire plan for us. Be it one year, 10 years or even 50 years, these are just mere milliseconds compared to God's definition of time... Something we could never be able to fathom with our limited and finite human minds.

There's this particular math equation that I like:

Let God be = 1
Let man be = 0

When man submits to God and place Him above all of ourselves i.e. take 1 divided by 0, we get this wonderful answer... Infinity (aka eternity). We can know, hear, or even read about infinity, but the truth of the matter is, none of us will ever experienced it until we have reconciled with Him above. That's where the beauty of faith comes in I suppose.

So now, having known that you have eternal life in Him, what should you do? Do you just lay everything aside and say, "Ah, what I do now doesn't matter anyway..."? Most certainly not! Remember what I mentioned earlier the paradigm? We need to expand it! We shouldn't be cherishing time just because time is limited, instead, we need to cherish time because time is God given! I feel that this is a very important concept that we need to understand because if we don't we'd just be running about in our everyday lives in a race where only rodents compete in...

Don't get me wrong... Having a good career goal is important, not for the sake of reaching a particular rung in the ladder, but for the ultimate purpose of worshipping Him with all that your hands find to do. In the same breath, studying well is important, not for the sake of acing your exams, but for the sweet pleasure of glorifying Him through your works.

Here's a verse that probably sums up all that I have to say...

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal." - Matthew 6:19-20

Let's all cherish every single moment that we have because it is God who has given us these moments...
